Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp and Pasta

  • 1 lb fresh or thawed medium-sized shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 oz linguine or fettuccine pasta

Sauce and Flavorings

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 23 tablespoons sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking and Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs or panko (optional, for crunch)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook linguine or fettuccine according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and reserve about 1/4 cup of pasta water, then set pasta aside.
  2. Prepare the Bang Bang Sauce: In a mixing bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sriracha sauce, honey, lime juice, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt. Adjust sriracha to your preferred spice level for the perfect creamy bang bang sauce.
  3. Cook the Shrimp: Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season shrimp with salt and pepper, then cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and cooked through. Optionally toss cooked shrimp with bread crumbs or panko for a slight crunch.
  4. Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the cooked pasta into the skillet with the shrimp and pour over the bang bang sauce. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time to loosen the sauce and coat the pasta evenly.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Finish with chopped green onions and an extra squeeze of fresh lime juice for brightness. Serve immediately for the most luscious experience.

Notes

  • Peel and Devein Shrimp: Ensure shrimp are peeled and deveined for the best texture and eating experience.
  • Don’t Overcook Shrimp: Cook shrimp just until pink to keep them tender and juicy.
  • Reserve Pasta Water: Use starchy pasta water to thin the sauce without losing creaminess or flavor.
  • Balance Heat and Sweetness: Taste the sauce and adjust sriracha and honey to achieve a perfect spicy-sweet balance.
  • Use Fresh Lime Juice: Adds acidity that brightens and balances the richness of the sauce.
