Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup finely diced red onion
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 small jalapeño, finely diced (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Optional Variations

  • 1/4 cup mango or pineapple chunks
  • 2 tablespoons Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons bacon bits
  • 1 clove roasted garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the avocados: Cut ripe avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl. Use a fork to mash the avocado, keeping some chunks for texture.
  2. Add fresh lime juice: Immediately squeeze fresh lime juice over the mashed avocado; this adds zest and helps prevent discoloration.
  3. Chop and mix in vegetables: Finely dice red onion, tomatoes, jalapeño (if using), and cilantro. Gently fold them into the mashed avocado mixture.
  4. Season to taste: Sprinkle salt and freshly ground black pepper, stirring well to blend all the flavors harmoniously.
  5. Adjust and serve: Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, then serve the guacamole immediately for the freshest experience.

Notes

  • Choose ripe avocados that are slightly soft to the touch but not mushy for the perfect creamy texture.
  • Use chilled ingredients for a refreshing, cool dip, especially in warm climates.
  • Prevent browning by covering with plastic wrap pressed directly on the surface to minimize air exposure.
  • Customize the spice level by adding jalapeño seeds cautiously or omit them for a milder version.
  • Fresh lime juice is preferred over bottled for brighter and deeper flavor.
  • Guacamole can be made up to a day ahead and stored tightly covered in the refrigerator to keep it fresh.
  • Freezing is not recommended as it may alter the texture, but if necessary, use a sealed freezer bag and thaw slowly in the fridge.
  • Serve guacamole cold; no reheating is needed—just stir well before serving after refrigeration.
