Scale

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Filling Ingredients

  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • Butter for greasing and brushing

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy to activate the yeast. Then add the flour, salt, and melted butter, mixing until the dough begins to form.
  2. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  3. Prepare the Garlic Cheese Filling: While the dough rises, mix the minced garlic, shredded mozzarella, grated parmesan, and chopped parsley (if using) in a bowl.
  4. Shape the Rolls: Punch down the risen dough, roll it out into a rectangle. Evenly spread the garlic cheese mixture over the dough. Roll tightly from one edge into a log. Slice into 2-inch thick rolls and place in a buttered baking dish, leaving space between each for rising.
  5. Final Rise and Bake: Let the rolls rest and rise for 20-30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted and bubbly. Brush with garlic butter after baking for extra flavor. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use fresh yeast if available for better rise and flavor.
  • Avoid overfilling with cheese to prevent leakage.
  • Allow full dough rises for fluffiest rolls.
  • Brush tops with garlic butter right after baking for shine and flavor.
  • Serve rolls warm for best gooey cheese experience.
