Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 wheel of fresh Brie cheese (approx. 8 ounces) with rind intact
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • Fresh thyme leaves (optional, about 1 teaspoon)

For Serving

  • Crunchy bread, such as sliced baguette or artisan Italian bread
  • Crackers or gluten-free crackers (for gluten-free option)
  • Fresh fruit slices (apple slices or grapes)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pecans: Toast the chopped pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently until they release a nutty aroma and turn golden brown. This intensifies their flavor and ensures a delightful crunch.
  2. Prepare the brie: Place the brie wheel on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Optionally, score the top of the brie lightly to help flavors absorb without removing the rind entirely.
  3. Add maple syrup and pecans: Drizzle the pure maple syrup generously over the top of the brie. Evenly sprinkle the toasted pecans and, if using, press fresh thyme leaves gently onto the cheese.
  4. Bake until melty: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the prepared brie for 12 to 15 minutes, until the cheese is soft and gooey but still contained within the rind.
  5. Serve warm: Remove from oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes to allow the cheese to settle slightly, making it easier to scoop without excessive spilling. Serve with bread, crackers, and fresh fruit.

Notes

  • Use fresh brie with intact rind for best melting and creaminess.
  • Toast pecans carefully to avoid burning and bitterness.
  • Keep an eye on baking time to prevent cheese leaking out completely.
  • Serve the baked brie warm for optimal gooey texture and flavor.
  • Use parchment paper on baking sheet for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
  • You can assemble up to 6 hours ahead and refrigerate until ready to bake.
  • Store leftovers wrapped tightly in plastic wrap in the refrigerator; best eaten within 2 days.
  • Reheat gently in a 300°F (150°C) oven for 8-10 minutes; avoid microwave reheating.
