Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 12 hard-boiled eggs
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar or lemon juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Paprika, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Eggs: Start by hard boiling your eggs. Place them in a pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, then cover and remove from heat for about 10-12 minutes. Immediately transfer the eggs to an ice bath to cool, which helps with peeling and keeps the whites firm and bright.
  2. Peel and Slice: Once cooled, gently peel the eggs and slice each in half lengthwise. Carefully scoop out the yolks into a mixing bowl, setting the whites aside on a serving tray or plate.
  3. Make the Filling: Mash the yolks with mayonnaise and cream cheese until smooth. Add sweet pickle relish, Dijon mustard, and a splash of vinegar or lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper. Blend until everything is creamy, flavorful, and well combined.
  4. Fill the Egg Whites: Using a spoon or piping bag, fill each egg white half evenly with the yolk mixture. Give each deviled egg a nice mound for an inviting presentation.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle paprika over the top and consider adding a small herb sprig or a bacon piece if desired. Chill before serving for best flavor.

Notes

  • Use older eggs as they peel easier than very fresh eggs.
  • For a neat and elegant look, pipe the filling instead of spooning it.
  • Add more mayo or cream cheese if the filling seems too dry.
  • Prepare filling and whites separately to assemble last minute for freshness.
  • Refrigerate the deviled eggs for at least an hour before serving to meld flavors.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 3 days.
  • Do not freeze deviled eggs as texture will be compromised.
  • Serve cold or at room temperature; remove from fridge 15 minutes before serving if preferred slightly warmer.
