Ingredients

Scale

Meat

  • 8 oz top sirloin or ribeye steak, thinly sliced

Vegetables

  • 4 large bell peppers (red, yellow, green), tops sliced off and seeded
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Cheese

  • 4 oz provolone or American cheese, sliced or shredded

Others

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Peppers: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes. Arrange the peppers upright in a baking dish ready for filling.
  2. Cook the Steak and Vegetables: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced steak, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned but still tender. Remove the steak and set it aside. In the same skillet, sauté the sliced onions and minced garlic until golden and fragrant, then combine with the cooked steak.
  3. Stuff the Peppers: Generously fill each pepper with the steak and onion mixture. Top each with slices or shredded provolone cheese, allowing the cheese to melt into the filling for that classic cheesesteak gooeyness.
  4. Bake the Peppers: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes, until the peppers are tender but still hold their shape and the cheese is bubbly. Remove the foil for the last 5 minutes to let the cheese brown slightly.
  5. Serve Warm: Let the stuffed peppers cool for a few minutes before serving to enjoy the perfect blend of melted cheese, juicy steak, and crisp peppers in every bite.

Notes

  • Slice steak thinly for faster cooking and tender texture.
  • Do not overcook peppers; bake until just tender to maintain crunch and shape.
  • Use quality cheese like provolone for authentic Philly flavor and excellent melting.
  • Allow stuffed peppers to rest a few minutes after baking to set filling for easier handling.
  • Sauté onions and garlic separately before combining to enhance their flavors.
