Pizza Pot Pie

Pizza Pot Pie

Pizza Pot Pie blends the cheesy, savory flavors of classic pizza with the warm, flaky comfort of a pot pie. Featuring a golden buttery crust filled with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni or preferred meats, and vegetables like bell peppers and mushrooms, this one-dish meal is perfect for any occasion. Customizable, hearty, and easy to make, it offers a satisfying and cozy dining experience.

Ingredients

Pie Crust

  • Store-bought or homemade flaky pie crust (2 halves)

Cheese

  • Shredded mozzarella cheese (about 1 ½ cups)

Sauce

  • Marinara sauce (1 cup)

Meats

  • Pepperoni or preferred cooked meats (½ to 1 cup)

Vegetables

  • Bell peppers, diced (½ cup)
  • Mushrooms, sliced (½ cup)

Additional Ingredients

  • Olive oil (1 tbsp)
  • Minced garlic (2 cloves)
  • Italian seasoning (1 tsp)
  • Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp water, for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: Start by heating olive oil in a pan and sauté your chosen vegetables (bell peppers and mushrooms) with minced garlic until tender. Add cooked meats such as pepperoni if using. Stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning, then let the mixture simmer briefly so the flavors meld.
  2. Assemble the pot pie: Roll out half of the pie crust and fit it into a pie dish or individual ramekins. Spoon the pizza mixture generously into the crust-lined dish. Top the filling with shredded mozzarella cheese to create a gooey, cheesy layer.
  3. Cover with crust: Place the second half of the pie crust over the filling, sealing the edges tightly by pinching them together. Cut a few slits into the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.
  4. Bake to perfection: Brush the top crust with egg wash to achieve a beautiful golden color. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes, until the crust is crisp and golden and the cheese beneath is bubbling.
  5. Rest and serve: Let the Pizza Pot Pie cool slightly after baking to allow the filling to set. Slice and serve warm for maximum comfort and flavor.

Notes

  • Pre-cook fillings to avoid soggy crust.
  • Seal edges tightly to lock in filling for perfect slices.
  • Use cold butter in crust for a flakier texture.
  • Do not overload the filling to ensure even baking.
  • Allow resting time for cheese to set before slicing.
