Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • Chicken Thighs or Breasts (about 1.5 to 2 pounds)

Marinade

  • 3 Garlic Cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons Smoked Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder
  • Juice of 1 Lime (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 3 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • Salt, to taste (about 1 teaspoon)
  • Black Pepper, to taste (about 1/2 teaspoon)

Garnish

  • Fresh Cilantro, chopped (for garnish, about 2 tablespoons)
  • Lime wedges (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper to create a rich, aromatic marinade that will infuse the chicken with bold flavor.
  2. Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken thighs or breasts in a resealable bag or dish and pour the marinade over them. Toss to coat evenly, then seal and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, up to 2 hours for maximum flavor absorption. For best results, marinate overnight.
  3. Cook the Chicken: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken pieces, cooking for 5 to 7 minutes on each side until golden brown and fully cooked through. Keep the pan juices to maintain moisture and enhance flavor. Avoid overcrowding the pan to achieve a caramelized crust on the chicken.
  4. Garnish and Serve: Once cooked, let the chicken rest for 5 minutes to lock in juices. Sprinkle fresh chopped cilantro over the top and serve immediately with your favorite sides such as rice, tortillas, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

  • Marinate Longer: For deeper flavor, marinate the chicken overnight in the refrigerator when time allows.
  • Use Thighs for Juiciness: Chicken thighs absorb spices better and stay tender compared to breasts.
  • Don’t Overcrowd the Pan: Kitchen space allows even browning and a caramelized crust.
  • Let the Chicken Rest: Rest cooked chicken for 5 minutes to retain juices before slicing.
  • Fresh Herbs Finish: Add cilantro or parsley just before serving to keep herbs bright and flavorful.
