  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F/43°C)
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Boil peeled potatoes until tender, then mash them until smooth. Let them cool completely to prevent overheating the yeast.
  2. Activate the Yeast: Warm the milk to about 110°F (43°C). Stir in the sugar and yeast, then let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  3. Mix the Dough: In a large bowl, combine mashed potatoes, activated yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, salt, and flour gradually. Stir until the dough begins to form.
  4. Knead the Dough: Transfer dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Shape the Rolls: Punch down dough, divide into equal portions, and shape each into a round roll. Arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between rolls.
  7. Second Rise: Cover rolls and let rise for 30 to 45 minutes until puffy.
  8. Bake to Perfection: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush rolls with melted butter or egg wash, then bake for 15–18 minutes until lightly browned on top.
