Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened, low-fat plain yogurt
  • 23 tablespoons water or coconut water (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional)

Optional Variations

  • 1 tablespoon all-natural peanut butter (for protein boost)
  • 1/4 cup cooked oats (for added fiber and texture)
  • 1 cup blueberries (as a substitute for strawberries)
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk (as yogurt alternative for lactose sensitivity)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fruits: Wash fresh strawberries thoroughly, removing stems and any bruised parts. Peel the banana and slice into chunks for easy blending. If using frozen fruit, allow a few minutes to soften for smoother mixing.
  2. Blend the Ingredients: Place strawberries, banana chunks, and plain yogurt in a blender or food processor. Add a small amount of water or coconut water if necessary to help the blender run smoothly. Blend until creamy and uniform with no large fruit pieces.
  3. Optional Sweetener: If your dog prefers a sweeter taste, add a teaspoon of honey and blend briefly to combine. This step is optional as natural fruit sugars are usually sufficient.
  4. Pour into Molds or Containers: Transfer the mixture into silicone molds, ice cube trays, or small freezer-safe containers for portion control and easy serving.
  5. Freeze and Serve: Freeze for at least 3-4 hours or until solid. Once frozen, pop out the treats and serve chilled for a delicious and cooling summer snack.

Notes

  • Use fresh fruit whenever possible for the best flavor and nutritional value.
  • Choose unsweetened Greek yogurt to add protein while keeping sugar low.
  • Freeze in small portions to control serving sizes and keep leftovers fresh.
  • Introduce new ingredients gradually and monitor for any allergic reactions.
  • Allow the ice cream to thaw slightly at room temperature before serving for easier chewing.
